Living A Victorious Christian Life

A little boy once found a precious stone that shone when he raised it up in the sunlight and because he had lived in a tiny hut with little room to keep toys, he decided to hide this treasure in the ground.
The next day, he dug his treasure up to find it was covered in mud and took it to the river for a good clean.
Every day the little boy would run to dig up his treasure disappointed that he had to wash it again. Then whilst washing the stone at the stream one day, he saw a little space between two rocks with water running over them and decided to hide his treasure in this cleft and allow the running water to cleanse the stone all the time. This way, the stone shone more brightly and was never dirty again.

This is a picture of what Christ has done and the implication of His finished work in our lives. When we receive him, we should receive him with reckless abandon knowing that we cannot help ourselves but need the continuous cleansing that His blood provides; not just in some aspects of our lives but in everything and in every way.

Unfortunately, many of us still struggle to let go and let Him take charge. We go through life like every other person, we make decisions like the world, and we chase after things in the way of the world.
As long as we continue to wrestle in our strength, there is very little our Saviour can do. When a lifeguard attempts to save someone that is drowning, there is nothing he can do until the person lets go, in the same vein when we come to terms with the fact that our righteousness is not by works or struggle, (undeserved) but because of what Christ suffered on the cross, when we have exhausted all options and come to the end of ourselves, only then can we really let go and let God.

Have you noticed how no matter how the world tries to find solutions or breakthroughs in medicine there always seems to be a question unanswered? This morning, two pain killers have been discovered to increase the chances of heart problems. This only shows the futility of man’s effort.

When are YOU going to GIVE UP and GIVE IN completely to JESUS? He has all the answers in HIS finished work.

How wonderful to know that God loves us so much! We are cleansed daily from sin and made righteous. Isn’t this beautiful? But this also means that we have to abide in him daily. We have to focus on His finished work.

The Bible says we are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. The Bible says if you abide in me and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish and it will done for you. John 15:7. Can it be any simpler than that? Let’s abide in Him, let’s soak ourselves in the word that daily cleanses, and let’s get totally and completely submerged in the totality of the finished work of Christ and the beauty that exudes from suffering. START LIVING VICTORIOUSLY IN JESUS NAME!

Commanding The Miracle.

God desires to speak with us and He is always speaking. God speaks with us in ways that He knows we would understand. When we know without any doubt that He has spoken, this stirs up faith in us and we usually expect an instant miracle.

What do you do…
– When you know that you have heard God about a situation and nothing seems to be happening?
-When you have heard Him clearly that you would be a parent, yet nothing seems to have manifested?
-When He woke you up to say that He has just healed you, yet the doctor’s report says something contrary?
-When a prophetic word has been given about your promotion and you are still in the same job?
-When He has told you that you will pass your examination and you have repeatedly failed?
-When you heard him clearly about the choice of your spouse before marriage but the marriage seems to be heading towards a divorce?
-When He told you that you will get married this year and you are not even in a relationship yet?

Elijah, one of the great prophets of the old testament was in this situation in his walk with God. The bible describes Him as a man with a nature like ours (James 5:17).
How did Elijah survive under similar situations without renouncing his faith?

In 1 Kings 17:9, God commanded him to go and He promised him food. He said He had instructed the widow to provide for him. In this situation, Elijah might have expected the widow’s house to already be full of enough food.
1 Kings 17:12 – the widow did not have enough food. Not even for her family. This might have been very disappointing. Elijah, however refused to be disappointed. He chose to believe what God had said about the widow providing for him. This must have stirred up faith in him regardless of what he saw in the physical.
He took the next step in 1 king 17:13-16. Elijah commanded the miracle. He knew that if God has promised then He is true to His word.

If you are sure you have heard Him, stand on His words and refuse to be disappointed by the delays you may be facing. Rather, command the miracle. You can command the miracle by your persistent prayers, obedience, positive confession and unwavering faith.
God wants you to command Him concerning the works of His hands (Isaiah 45:11). Also remember that He is not slack concerning His promise (2 Peter 3:9(a)).
Be encouraged.

The believer’s ‘end-time’ attitude.

Nobody can say with any degree of certainty when Jesus is coming again (Mark 13:32). We however have been given signs by Him. So we can say that we are in the end-time.

Without a shadow of a doubt, Jesus Christ is coming back again. (1 Peter 3:4-9)

As believers, we need to realise that God has already provided an avenue of escape from the corruption that is in the world through lust.
By His promises, we are also able to partake of His divine nature i.e be like Him (2 Peter 1:4.)

What does God expect of us as we await the second coming of Christ?

(1) Be diligent to be found by Him without spot and blameless. This involves giving yourself diligently to your christian walk and call.
Be diligent to make your call and election sure.

(2) Be faithful and responsible in your service to Him. (Matt 24:45-51)

(3) Be diligent in reaching out to the lost.
This is very key, because Jesus said one major thing that would herald His coming would be the proclamation of the gospel (Matt 24:14). God cares for all people, Jesus died for every person and the word of God is for every nation before the end.

(4) Live right and make peace.
A good way is by regularly examining yourself and what Christ would do in your situation.

(5) Watch
To watch means to be ready or prepared (Matt 24:42).

(6) Grow in grace and knowledge of our Lord and saviour Jesus (2 Peter 3:14-18).
The more we see the day approaching, the more grace and knowledge of God we need. Peter knew this. Warning us not to fall prey to false teachers and prophets, he commanded us to grow in grace and knowledge of Christ.
We need this so that our discernment is sharpened.
Jesus also warns us of deception in Matt 24:4(b)

In conclusion, Beloved as we see the day approaching let us not grow weary in well doing for we shall reap in due season if we faint not (Gal 6:9).

These are ‘wise words’ to you today.

10 Practical Steps For Soul Winning.

Acts 1:8 ” But you shall receive power when the Holy spirit has come upon you and you shall be witnesses to me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria and to the end of the earth”.

The Holy spirit is the person and the power by which assistance and ability are given for serving, for sharing of life and power of God’s kingdom with others.

He will give:
-Power to find the lost
-Authority to boldly declare Jesus as the son of God
-Power to establish His church locally and worldwide.

I’ll like to share 10 practical steps that I believe would help you to win souls for the kingdom of God.

1. Have a daily expectation to win a soul. (Prov 23:18, Prov 10:24, Acts 4:33)
2. Target a soul in your day to day area or walk. (The Holy spirit gives power to find the lost).
3. Pray daily for the targeted soul, for oher oppourtunities to win souls and for utterance. (Eph 1:17-29, Acts 4:29-31)
4. Look for a convenient atmosphere. (The Holy spirit will help in your discernment).
5. Be practical in your approach. Don’t quote too many scriptures or use christian terms that they may be unfamiliar with.
6.Be a good listener. Allow them to talk about their concerns and interests.
7. Start conversation from their area of interests or concern. They are more likely to listen.
8. Don’t judge or condemn them. Demonstrate the love of God in your speech and actions.
9. Share similar experiences you’ve had and how you overcame.
10. Focus on sharing the love of Christ, the warmth and eternal security found through Him.

This list is not exhaustive. Please feel free to ‘add on’ to bless others who would visit this page.

Preparing For The New Year With A Thankful Heart.

Challenges, Oppression, trials in life are tools from the enemy to make us lose focus on the main reason for our existence.

Do you like me sometimes wonder why the armour bearers, pace setters are the ones faced with the most distabilising attacks?Attacks on marriages, finances, ministry etc being thrown by the enemy all in an attempt to make us lose focus.

As we approach the end of the year, we are alive to count our blessings despite all arrows thrown at us. For this, we should be thankful because He has provided a way of escape (1 Cor 10:13).

He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the son of His love (Col 1:13). In this kingdom, we are in a place of “completeness” that is of spiritual adequacy, authority or ability to live victoriously over and above the invisible power of darkness.

So as we approach the new year as citizens of the heavenly kingdom (phil 3:20), let us not lose focus on our enabling power to go and: Preach good tidings to the poor, proclaim liberty to the captives, open prison doors to those  who are bound, comfort all who mourn (Isaiah 61:1-3).

He is the Lord that crowns the year with goodness and He will do it in your life as we approach the end of the year (Ps 65:11).

I am thankful for you.

Running The Race Of Faith.

Heb 12:1 “ Therefore we also since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight and the sin which so easily ensnares us and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us”.

The heroes of faith are not spectators watching us from heaven, rather their lives are witnesses to us, having successfully overcome.

The Christian life is often likened to a race (1 Cor 9:24, 2 Tim 4:7). We are to lay aside anything that hinders our progress, particularly every form of sin.

According to Heb 12 :2, the runner must not look to other contestants, but must ever keep his eyes fixed on Jesus.

God expects that we constantly renew our spiritual vitality so as not to be like Esau, who forfeited permanent blessings for immediate passing fleshly gratification.

In Heb 12:6, the bible called Esau a profane person. It is important as believers that we do not get carried away with the things of the world and that we let our priorities lie in God. This way, we would be more in tune with our spiritual side. Not giving room to a profane mind that allows deception to sneak in.

A profane person cannot be sensitive to God or the needs of people. He cannot discern, hence he gives easy access to the enemy to deceive him into selling his most valuable – his worship, praise and service to God. He is like Esau who sold his birth right.

Beloved, God requires that we are constantly in His presence and that we make this priority in our lives, regardless of our busy life styles. This renews our spiritual vitality and helps us to be fruitful on all sides.

Team work in the body

I had a dream in the early hours of this morning.

I was singing and matching with a group of people. All we were singing was “thank you Lord for the body of Christ”. I had never heard the song before and I do not recall ever seeing any of the people I was singing and matching with in that dream but the voices they sang with were  completely out of this world. So my guess is that they were angels.

I woke up still singing the song. It became more real to me that angels celebrate and thank God for the body of Christ. No wonder the bible says “Behold how good and pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity”. (Ps 133:1)

Indeed, we are all important to God. Possession of different talents or gifts does not denote differences in worth, for all belong to one body and all are interdependent.(Rom 12:3-5) Hence, the reason we have different talents or gifts is that it will be more obvious that we need one another. The need for one another also facilitates love for one another.

The father’s gift to the body is spiritual gifts. “Having gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them”. (Rom 12:6)

The gifts are placed in the church as resources to be utilized at the point of need for ministry in the body and as a means to fulfilling purpose in life.

What talent or gift do you believe God has given you? Remember you are an important member of the team and Rom12:6 implore you to use them.

Your responsibility in God’s prosperity plan.

God requires us to play our parts in His prosperity plan for us as He has already made available to us all that we require to prosper.

Meditating on the word of God is the gateway to prosperity. Psalm 1:2(b) ” And in His law he meditates day and night”.

Our responsibility is to meditate on God’s word and observe to do the things that are written in it. (Joshua 1:8)

Psalm 1:3(b) “and whatever he does shall prosper”.

This includes everything: your family, your children, your marriage, your business, your ministry, your job and your health.

Many people want the promised results without responsible commitment but none of us will ever gain everything truly worthwhile in just an instant.

The truly worthwhile takes time to develop. Do not expect God’s answers to leap to your schedule. Remember His answers occur when you put His word into action.

“Just as a period of intensive study precedes a college degree so through patient, pursuit of His promise may we wait for the word of God to mature in our lives”. F.P

Let’s have a look at God’s word and practical fruitful living

1.    God’s word is a purifier unto Holy living (James 1:23-25)

2.    God’s word can purge as well as ignite (Jer 20:9, Jer 23:29)

3.    God’s word is a powerful delivering agent (Ps 119:9)

4.    God’s word gives strong discernment (Heb 4:12)

5.    God’s word directs and guides. (Ps119:105)

6.    God’s word gives wisdom and understanding (Ps 119:100)

7.    God’s word gives peace (Ps 119:165)

8.    God’s word carries authority (Ps119:89-91)

The all-encompassing absolutely authoritative word of God is unchangingly secured in heaven.

Though times and seasons change through social customs, human opinions and philosophical view point vary, they have no effect on the constancy or authority of God’s word.

Steadfastness- A requirement for bountiful harvest

Steadfastness- meaning steady, firmly loyal, constant is a major attribute required for soul winning.

Let us look at the lives of the early apostles in the book of acts.

Acts 2:42 “And they continued steadfastly in the apostles doctrine and fellowship in the breaking of bread and in prayers.”

Acts 2:46 “So continuing daily with one accord in the temple………..

Result- Acts 2:47(b) “and the Lord added to the church daily, those who were being saved.”

After being empowered by the Holy Spirit, the early apostles were steadfast (constant) in prayers and in evangelism and the Lord added unto them daily.

Our Lord Jesus Christ in Luke 22:39 was steadfast in prayers and in doing the will of the father and the result is what we are enjoying today.

Steadfastness is therefore a major key to a bountiful harvest. Making our calling and election sure requires steadfastness.

What has God called you to do? That little step that you have taken towards it has not been overlooked by Him but He requires you to be steadfast. Not discouraged or put off by lack of physical results.

The early church leaders were steadfast in praying for miracles (Acts 4:30), seeing them not as random, occasional events but as worthy evidences of God’s anointing continually glorifying Christ through the church.

In conclusion, let us not grow weary in well doing for we shall reap in due season if we faint not. (Gal 6:9)

Please share your experience of examples of a steadfast life with others by adding to this blog. To add your comment, please click reply at the end of this blog now!! God bless.

There is a queue out there!

“For [even the whole] creation (all nature) waits expectantly and longs earnestly for God’s sons to be made known [waits for the revealing, the disclosing of their sonship] – Romans 8:19

Who are they waiting for? Answer: The sons of God,

Question: …and who are the sons of God? Answer: Romans 8:11 -“For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God”.

The bible makes it clear that anyone that is still obeying the carnal nature is not at peace with God. It therefore follows that you must be led by His Spirit before you can be classed as a son of God.

How do we know we are led by His Spirit?

Answer: By His fruits. The fruits of the Spirit Friends let us not be deceived. There is one thing God is looking for and it is His likeness in every one of us.

We can’t be effectively used of God to deliver signs and wonders if we do not have an array of the fruits of the Spirit. They are the power source of an anointed child of God. The anointing can run dry and make men fall from grace to grass, but if the fruits have been well cultivated, they can lubricate the anointed for an entire life span and guarantee a place in heaven.

We all know that “Not everyone who says to Me, Lord, Lord, will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father Who is in heaven” Matt 7:21 .. and we all know that “Many will say to Me on that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in your name and driven out demons in Your name and done many mighty works in Your name”?

The Spirit of God teaches us and helps us to do the will of God; that is His ministry. To refuse His leading and promptings is a serious mistake.

Are you led by the Spirit? Are you a son of God? Rate yourself, how many or what % of the following is operating in your life, with all sincerity: Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness (Humility), Self-Control (self-Restraint).
