Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving is a powerful practise in maintaining the flow of the miraculous in our lives.

Exodus 17:8-16

“Then came Amalek, and fought with Israel in Rephidim. And Moses said unto Joshua, Choose us out men, and go out, fight with Amalek: to morrow I will stand on the top of the hill with the rod of God in mine hand. So Joshua did as Moses had said to him, and fought with Amalek: and Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the top of the hill. And it came to pass, when Moses held up his hand, that Israel prevailed: and when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed. But Moses’ hands were heavy; and they took a stone, and put it under him, and he sat thereon; and Aaron and Hur stayed up his hands, the one on the one side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun. And Joshua discomfited Amalek and his people with the edge of the sword. And the Lord said unto Moses, Write this for a memorial in a book, and rehearse it in the ears of Joshua: for I will utterly put out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven. And Moses built an altar, and called the name of it Jehovah–nissi: For he said, Because the Lord hath sworn that the Lord will have war with Amalek from generation to generation”.

God gave a victory and an altar was built upon what God had done. In the bible, altars were built around the visitations of God.
We need to focus on the memory of our past victories instead of our sins and other peoples sins against us.
Our altars need to be built on the memories of what God did in our past not on the memories of past failures, our sins, the sins of others, our past situations.
Altars are strong memory banks constructed out of past events in your life.

Which events are you constructing your altars on?

You must construct altars of worship unto God where you can thank, praise & worship Him.
If you have a challenge today, God has given you the ability to handle it. Your strength lies in the miracles God did yesterday.
The only way you are defeated is if you forgot the past miracles. Lack of strength results from forgetting what God did in the past.

Your next level of blessing will come as a result of the last level of blessing.
Rebuilding the altars means we are bringing back the memories of what God has done for us in the past.
When you are faced with a higher challenge, your greatest weapon is the memory of what God did yesterday. You may not have all the finances or weapons in the flesh.

The secret of receiving more victories.

Psalms 78:1-12
1. Documenting past victories- When you are faced with a challenge, record what God did in the past.
2. Rehearsal of past victories – Recount what God has done in your past and keep thanking Him for it. (Psalm 105:2-5)
You bring back into your consciousness the reality of what God has done. This is a link to the next promise.

  1. A song goes thus ‘count your blessings name them one by one….’
This best goes with this blog on thanksgiving. We thank Him, because He is good. Therin lies our victory.
A powerful tool to breakthough in the lives of believers is thankgiving but the enemy tries to rob us of this by making us think God has not heard us when we don’ t seem to have seen a physical evidence. Please let us work our faith out by practicing this and we will always have a testimony to share.

  2. This is all so true. Thanks for posting this, Pastor F. There is a wise saying in my native dialect that says “if you appreciate & thank someone for a favour done yesterday/in the past, you will get another one”. If that is true with human beings who are not perfect how much more would it be true of a Perfect & Loving God, our Heavenly Father, who delights in our prosperity & progress.
