The kingdom-minded believer

These past few days, I have been faced with situations and experiences involving believers. I have thought, prayed and I have asked myself this question:

Where does my heart lie?

Amidst the struggles, ups and downs, challenges, fun, excitement life has got to offer, where does my heart really lie?

Matthew 6:21 “for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”

In teaching kingdom life and principles, Jesus leads his followers to think, live and pray that his kingdom come to our entire planet (Matthew 6:10).

His parable illustrated the kingdom’s global expansion (Matthew 13:33)

As His disciples began to minister, He told them to preach everywhere, “the kingdom of God is at hand.”

Then before his ascension, He gave the greatest commission (Matthew 28:18-20).

It is obvious that the kingdom of God was priority in the life of Jesus.  Agree?

So who is the kingdom-minded believer?

Without complicating things, let’s bring this to our everyday life. Then we can search our hearts. Like me, ask yourself the question: where does my heart lie?

Here are some pointers, food for thoughts, questions or whatever you would like to call this.

  1. When you wake up in the morning, what is the first thing you usually do?
  2. How often do you pray this verse of the bible (Matthew 6:10)? “Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.”
  3. When last did you ask God for opportunity to witness to someone?
  4. How much of your time, money or support do you give into kingdom work?
  5. How about fellow believers? Can you call yourself a true brother or sister?

This would be a very long list if I was to continue. I have chosen to stop here but I have left the rest of the page for you to add on.

Add your comments, more pointers or attributes of a kingdom-minded believer. You can never tell who your point would bless.

In conclusion, Matthew 6:20-21 says “but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”

Make a new year’s resolution. Witness to an unbeliever this month.

These are wise words to you today.
