Works Befitting Repentance

Acts 26:20(b) “…..and then to the Gentiles that they should repent, turn to God and do works befitting repentance”.

Paul the apostle in his chain was totally committed to his call to spread the gospel and establish churches throughout the known world.

He lived what he wrote that “for me to live is Christ, to die is gain” (Phil 1:21).

Works befitting repentance indicates that a true relationship with God will result in a Godly life-style. We are not saved by our own good works but salvation by grace will certainly change us.

As Christians, we are expected to live like Christians. Our conducts, responses has to befit repentance. Paul said in 1 Cor 11:1 “imitate me just as I imitate Christ”. Phil 1:27 also says “let your conduct be worthy of the gospel of Christ”.

Through the help of the Holy Spirit, we can be Christ-like and true representatives of Him. Asking God to help us to be like Jesus in our conducts, speech, thoughts should be part of our daily prayers.

Steadfastness- A requirement for bountiful harvest

Steadfastness- meaning steady, firmly loyal, constant is a major attribute required for soul winning.

Let us look at the lives of the early apostles in the book of acts.

Acts 2:42 “And they continued steadfastly in the apostles doctrine and fellowship in the breaking of bread and in prayers.”

Acts 2:46 “So continuing daily with one accord in the temple………..

Result- Acts 2:47(b) “and the Lord added to the church daily, those who were being saved.”

After being empowered by the Holy Spirit, the early apostles were steadfast (constant) in prayers and in evangelism and the Lord added unto them daily.

Our Lord Jesus Christ in Luke 22:39 was steadfast in prayers and in doing the will of the father and the result is what we are enjoying today.

Steadfastness is therefore a major key to a bountiful harvest. Making our calling and election sure requires steadfastness.

What has God called you to do? That little step that you have taken towards it has not been overlooked by Him but He requires you to be steadfast. Not discouraged or put off by lack of physical results.

The early church leaders were steadfast in praying for miracles (Acts 4:30), seeing them not as random, occasional events but as worthy evidences of God’s anointing continually glorifying Christ through the church.

In conclusion, let us not grow weary in well doing for we shall reap in due season if we faint not. (Gal 6:9)

There is a queue out there!

“For [even the whole] creation (all nature) waits expectantly and longs earnestly for God’s sons to be made known [waits for the revealing, the disclosing of their sonship] – Romans 8:19

Who are they waiting for? Answer: The sons of God,

Question: …and who are the sons of God? Answer: Romans 8:11 -“For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God”.

The bible makes it clear that anyone that is still obeying the carnal nature is not at peace with God. It therefore follows that you must be led by His Spirit before you can be classed as a son of God.

How do we know we are led by His Spirit?

Answer: By His fruits. The fruits of the Spirit Friends let us not be deceived. There is one thing God is looking for and it is His likeness in every one of us.

We can’t be effectively used of God to deliver signs and wonders if we do not have an array of the fruits of the Spirit. They are the power source of an anointed child of God. The anointing can run dry and make men fall from grace to grass, but if the fruits have been well cultivated, they can lubricate the anointed for an entire life span and guarantee a place in heaven.

We all know that “Not everyone who says to Me, Lord, Lord, will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father Who is in heaven” Matt 7:21 .. and we all know that “Many will say to Me on that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in your name and driven out demons in Your name and done many mighty works in Your name”?

The Spirit of God teaches us and helps us to do the will of God; that is His ministry. To refuse His leading and promptings is a serious mistake.

Are you led by the Spirit? Are you a son of God? Rate yourself, how many or what % of the following is operating in your life, with all sincerity: Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness (Humility), Self-Control (self-Restraint).

Regrets or Contentment

Looking back into my life, I wondered how my life would have been if I had not accepted Jesus Christ at the age I did.

It would have been a life of:

No meaning

No direction

No purpose

No hope

No anchor

I honestly sat down and thought about my experiences since I got saved.  Like counting my blessings and naming them one after the other.

1 Thes 5:16-18 “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”

Going down the memory lane….. I remember…

The way God had given me directions on core decisions in my life. If I did not know God, I might have made mistakes and planned my life like in James 4:13-15 without directions, meaning or purpose.

Hope:-I wake up every day not afraid of death because He has conquered death Heb 2:14-15 also I shall not die but live and declare the works of the Lord (Psalm 118:17).

I remember how he had shown me things about my life before they happened and I thought, “What a privilege!” (Amos 3:7)

I remember the many blessings in my life and I rejoice exceedingly.

I remember when I was knocked down by a car on the zebra crossing at a high speed and came out without a broken bone and then I remember psalm121:8. He is my anchor.

I remember……. much more than I have shared with you.

Choosing to serve God for me is a life of NO REGRETS BUT CONTENTMENT.

You must have similar experiences in your walk with God. Maybe you are not even a Christian but have felt God in your life or situation. “A certain day” experience.
