Steadfastness- A requirement for bountiful harvest

Steadfastness- meaning steady, firmly loyal, constant is a major attribute required for soul winning.

Let us look at the lives of the early apostles in the book of acts.

Acts 2:42 “And they continued steadfastly in the apostles doctrine and fellowship in the breaking of bread and in prayers.”

Acts 2:46 “So continuing daily with one accord in the temple………..

Result- Acts 2:47(b) “and the Lord added to the church daily, those who were being saved.”

After being empowered by the Holy Spirit, the early apostles were steadfast (constant) in prayers and in evangelism and the Lord added unto them daily.

Our Lord Jesus Christ in Luke 22:39 was steadfast in prayers and in doing the will of the father and the result is what we are enjoying today.

Steadfastness is therefore a major key to a bountiful harvest. Making our calling and election sure requires steadfastness.

What has God called you to do? That little step that you have taken towards it has not been overlooked by Him but He requires you to be steadfast. Not discouraged or put off by lack of physical results.

The early church leaders were steadfast in praying for miracles (Acts 4:30), seeing them not as random, occasional events but as worthy evidences of God’s anointing continually glorifying Christ through the church.

In conclusion, let us not grow weary in well doing for we shall reap in due season if we faint not. (Gal 6:9)

  1. Such an outstanding piece of writing. Consistency is the key and a proof of ones loyalty to God……Heb11:6, Ps112:7-8, 2chr16:9………..
To be constantly consistent and consistently constant in our worship to God, to be steadfast in the spirit and in the doctrines of the apostles is the secret behind every great move of God. Every great revival on record was preceeded by continous, commitment and intense fellowship of committed worshippers.
Elijah said to Elisha, “if only you see me”…….. meaning your commitment, your gaze, your focus, your loyalty, will determine if you will ever get it…2king2:10

    • LOVE how patience and stssdfaatnees are tied together here. Sometimes when I think steadfast, I think it means continually progressing or getting to places farther along the road. But this passage totally shows how being steadfast is both fixing our eyes to Christ and being patient as we establish ourselves in the here and now.

        • I am in a season of life that is being merakd by God persistently reminding me and showing me who He is – that who He is and what He gave me in His Son (His best!) is enough. And He keeps asking me if I believe it. Some days it is easier than others. But I just keep clinging to and running to Him when my eyes are drawn away by the allure of worldliness and other idols I have still held on to. He has been so tender in His rebuke. How I love Him so! In the midst of one of the hardest years in my marriage, He is faithful and good and tender and merciful. This book definitely sounds like a must-read for me. Love you, Steph!
