Some Motivators in Challenging Times

Challenges may come and go but through it all the existence of God is unquestionable.

For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities–His eternal power and divine nature–have been clearly seen (Rom 1:20)

The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows His handy work. (Psalm 19:1). Imagine the wonder working power of God in your life, the air you breathe in. Even little things that we sometimes take for granted like clothes to wear, water to drink, life, good health can be motivators to praise Him during our low times or challenging times.

You may have gone through a wilderness experience like in the case of the children of Israel in the bible but the end result is a fulfilled promise just like God did for them in Joshua 21:43-45

‘So the LORD gave to Israel all the land of which He had sworn to give to their fathers, and they took possession of it and dwelt in it. 44 The LORD gave them rest all around, according to all that He had sworn to their fathers. And not a man of all their enemies stood against them; the LORD delivered all their enemies into their hand. 45 Not a word failed of any good thing which the LORD had spoken to the house of Israel. All came to pass’.

Some motivators in challenging times….
1. Remember that His grace is available and tap into it.
2. Look back at what He has done and let the knowledge of who He is motivate you to praise Him. The Israelites did this as they remembered how He took them through the red sea and delivered them from Pharaoh.
3. Remember there is a fulfilled promise of possessing your possession (Joshua 21:43)
4. Claim the promise of all round rest that will make you forget that you ever waited. Joshua21:44.
5. Remember that there is a promise of deliverance and claim it (Joshua 21:44)
6. What has God promised you? Not one of the words will go unfulfilled (Joshua 21:45).

May I just digress a bit and admonish you with this:

A popular man of God who attended an atheist school was asked how he was still able to keep His faith in God despite being made to believe consistently in school that there was no God. He replied that his parents’ part in taking him to church and telling him about God so early in life had moulded him to the state at which it was too late for the atheist believe to convince him otherwise.

If you are reading this blog and your challenge is your child. If you have laboured in prayers and training over them, be rest assured that there is a joy of answered prayers coming your way soon.

Joshua by the grace of God laboured for the children of Israel and passed what he knew, had seen and heard about God on (Joshua 24: 14-27). The children of Israel were determined to serve God, following his admonishment and they did (Joshua 24: 31).
Your case cannot be different. Be rest assured that your challenges will turn into a testimony….not many days from now……

Please add on to this blog, share your experience of what motivated you during your challenging times. Someone is waiting to read this and be motivated. Please click reply at the end of this blog now!

Some facts about your call.

The knowledge of who you are in Christ would mould your destiny and propel you onto greater works ahead. With salvation comes a call. You are saved and called with a holy calling (2 Tim 1:9).

It is important to know that your call:
– Is not according to your works
– Is according to His own purpose and grace.

The grace to fulfil your call was given to you when you accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and saviour. This leaves you with no excuse for not fulfilling the call. This has been God’s pattern from the beginning of creation. He did not leave Adam to tend the garden alone, He was there with him. He even provided Him with a help mate.

In Exodus 4, Moses gave excuses about why he felt he could not fulfil his call to take Israel out of Egypt. For every excuse he gave, God had already provided a solution. He asked for God’s presence because he knew his strength would fail him. God gave the promise of His presence and peace. (Exodus 33:13-14). When you feel incapable you experience the ability of God. Grace kicks in when your ability fails.

What excuse is preventing you from fulfilling your call to serve?

No matter the magnitude of the excuse it is not big enough to stop you but you can give it power by allowing it to stop you. Take a bold step of faith and tap into His ability that has already been provided.

Ephesians 2:10 says ‘For we are His workmanship created in Christ Jesus for good works which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them’.

Before conversion our lives had no rhyme or reason. Conversion brought us balance, symmetry and order. We are God’s poem, His work of art. We are His pride.
Imagine you are an artist exhibiting your finished work of art. You had spent time to make the work what it is and with pride you display it with the hope that it would achieve its purpose. I believe this is how God views you as His workmanship. He makes good works a living possibility and expects you to walk in them.

Other facts to note are that:
-Your call is the good work you have been created to fulfil.
-Your call is unique and different from any other.
-You have the assignment to discover your call.
-Your call is not less than any other.
-Your call is urgent and should not be procrastinated.

I will stop here because I’ll like you to add facts from your experience of answering God’s call to encourage others.

Nuggets For The New Year – The character of a light bearer.

As believers in Christ Jesus, we are light bearers. The bible admonishes that we become blameless and harmless children of God without fault. Even in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation we are expected to still shine as lights (Phil 2:15).
Jesus Christ was 100% man and 100% God. Phil 2:7 says Jesus came in the likeness of man, suggesting that Jesus was really a man not merely a man. His humanity was genuine yet His being was still divine.
Now the command is this – to be like – minded (have the same mind as Christ) – Phil 2:2.
What Character did Jesus Christ display that made Him shine as a light?
Nuggets
1. Unselfishness – Christ looked beyond His own interests for our sakes. He willingly laid aside His heavenly glory to come to earth and die.
We should be willing to look beyond our own interests for the sake of others. This applies to every relationship we may find ourselves, as husbands, wives, children, fathers, mothers, pastors, friends etc.

2. Humility – Christ did not affirm the fullness of Godliness by self – advancement. His exaltation is a consequence of Him humbling Himself.
Just as Christ’s humility received ultimate exaltation our call is to humble ourselves in the sight of the Lord and He will lift us up (James 4:10).
This helps us to rise to God’s highest purpose in each of us.

3. Obedience – In view of the obedience of Christ and His lordship we are expected to show a like obedience (Phil 2:12). Obedience to our call in life regardless of what the call is. From the pulpit to pew, as businessmen or preachers. Obedience is a key to breakthrough in the new year.

4. Unity – Being like – minded also suggests unity. Unity of purpose and disposition is important for advancement in any facets of life. Consider others more important than yourself. Diligently seek unity with other believers in your thoughts, attitude, love, spirit and purpose. Be concerned about the things that are important to others. (Phil 2:1-4).

5. Learn to control your thought life. Practice focusing your thoughts on things that are pure, lovely, and virtuous and praise worthy (Phil 4:8-9).

6. Forget the past and reach out for those things still ahead (Phil 3:12-14).

7. Believe with confidence that God will accomplish the good work He started in you (Phil 1:6).

8. Learn to be content in all circumstances. Contentment will bring great freedom to your life (Phil 4:1-12).

9. Believe that when God asks you to do something, He is able to provide the strength you need to do it (Phil 4:13).

10. Rejoice always and pray continuously. Consciously practice responding to various circumstances with joy and prayer instead of anxiety and worry (Phil 4: 4-7).

In conclusion, as the heavenly bodies shine forth in brightness against the blackness of the night so the lives of true Christians lighten the moral darkness of the world.

Seven Reasons Why God Will Answer Your Prayers.

1. Because you prayed to Him and acknowledged Him. Ps65:2, prov 3:6. Dan6:10.

One primary reason why GOD answered Hezekiah’s prayer in Isaiah 38 as recorded in verse 2, “and Hezekiah turned his face towards the wall and prayed to God”. He remembered God first, not his sooth sayers or his medication.

2. Because you’re in a covenant relationship with God. Matt7:7, Jer 33:3, Job22:21-30.

It is easier for your child using tricks to get things off you than for an outsider. Matt 7:11, it is easier to release to the one you’re connected and committed to despite their short comings. Only connected wires carry the current in a circuit.

3. Because you are in close proximity to Him.
Proximity determines intensity. The closer you are to me, the better and easier for my hands to reach you. I don’t need to shout to get your attention if you’re right beside me or in front of me.
I call it a DOPPLER effect. A DOPPLER effect, in physics, is a change in the observed frequency of a wave of sound or light occurring when the source and the observer are in relative motion to each other with d frequency and intensity increasing when the source and the observer approach each other or decreasing when they move apart.

4. Because of sincerity, simplicity and your humility.

Big names, big titles and big qualifications have no place with God. Only a true heart. For a true and a contrite heart God cannot despise, Ps51:17, Luke 18:9-14. Even king Ahab, the most devious of all kings of Israel, God forgave him when he repented, 1kings 21:27-29.
Have you ever wondered Why God forgave Nineveh but destroyed sodom. Jonah 3:5. Even God repented in verse 10, because of their repentance.

5. Because of your good works. Because of the good deeds you’ve done. Is38:3, Hebrews 6:10.

Every work speaks, either good or bad. King Hezekiah presented his good deeds and was justified. Ps 20:3, “remember all thy offerings and accept all thy offering burnt sacrifice”. Cornelius in Acts 10:1-4 had this testimonial that his prayers and offerings had gone before God. Infact, it will be unjust for God to forget your labour of love and we all know that God cannot be unjust, so then he CANNOT forget your good works.

6. Because of your consistency.

Be consistent for in consistency lies the power. In consistency lies the answer. Read Luke 18:1-8. Remember, winners don’t quit until they win and quitters don’t win because they quit. James 1:6-8, a double minded man will get nothing from God because he’s unstable in all his ways. “Give him no rest”, Isa62:7, until….. Until answer shows up, until something happens like Elijah who prayed seven times until a hand showed up in the sky, a confirmation, an answer, the sound of abundance of rain, the expected end. Every great move of God was preceded by consistent, constant, committed prayers and folks. They continued steadfastly in prayers and ministering the word Acts 2:42-43, Acts 6:5-7

7. Because you are positive, persuaded, confident and determined.

A woman lost her child but she kept confessing that it is well despite the fact that she had just been bereaved and in the end it was really well. Her son came back to life after Elisha prayed 2kings 4:26. Mark 2 epitomises the determination and persuasion of some unrelenting four folks, ready to go all length. The bible said they removed the roof because of no room, to get Jesus’ attention, all because of their sick friend Mark 2:2-5.

In closing, may I remind you that the effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available (James 5:16).

Releasing The Sound Of Revival.

Revival can be described as the sudden move of God characterised by the great outpouring of the Holy Spirit resulting in an influx of people into the kingdom of God with demonstration of signs and wonders.

Revival is an awakening.

We are the people God has called to release the sound of revival.

Hosea 6: 1-3
Revival cannot take place without a returning to the Lord. Revival starts from the heart. Revival should be the normal Christian life. Revival is for the church. The church should awake from sleep and be revived
Until we get to the place where we are consumed with God, we need revival.

Revelations 2-3 We are in the era of the seven churches. The church has become lukewarm. That is why genuine signs and wonders are scarce in this generation. The church has been reduced to a social gathering. We need revival.

Like Ezekiel in Ezekiel 37: 1-14 we are living amongst dry bones in our society. We need revival .
You have to maintain your own fire. The church of Jesus Christ is an army. Like God told Ezekiel to prophesy we need to take the sound of revival to places. There are people that should be in the army but are amongst dry bones. We need to prophesy to them like Ezekiel did to the dry bones.

When believers are revived then we can take it to the dead people around us. God just needs hearts that are available. We cannot talk about cooperate revival when there is no personal revival.

When do we need personal revival?
1. We need revival when we have lost our passion for God. It also affects our relationship with others.
Matthew 24:12, Rev 3:15
2. When we overlook sin and endorse the things that are wrong.
3. When we become prayer less and it doesn’t bother us.
4. When we no longer have a desire to study the scripture.
5. When we esteem carnal things above spiritual things.
6. When we live by the standard of the world instead of Godly standards.
7. When we compromise in sin and get involved with all forms of ungodly activities.
8. When Gods purposes and agenda is no longer important to us- Jesus said I will go about doing my father’s business.
9. When we do not desire or see the need to share our faith with the unsaved.
10. When we have lost our zeal for the house of God and service in His kingdom.

What are the Catalysts for personal revival?
1. Confront ourselves with the truth about our spiritual condition.
2. Genuine repentance (Acts 3:19). Repentance must come with soberness. Repentance opens the door for refreshing.
3. Brokenness and humility ( Ps 34:18, Is 66:2). Many people have left their positions in God due to pride.
4. Passionate prayer (1 Thes 5:17).
5 Fellowship with the Holy Spirit (2 cor 13:14).
6. Consistent fellowship with people of like mind (acts 4:23). People who will not quench your fire.

When revival breaks out the power of God is moving by Himself. This outpouring will start with individuals, who would cry out to God consistently and fervently in prayers. Personal revival will give birth to cooperate ones.

Are you hungry and thirsty for God at this time? It is time to humble yourself, pray and cry out to God for a personal revival.

Praying Scriptures.

The bible commands that we pray always without ceasing. Also the effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available ( 1 Thes 5:16, James 5:16).
Meaning that your prayers can produce the response of God in terms of answers and speedy results.

Prayer is the power house of a believer and without a life of prayer a believer becomes an easy prey for the enemy.

I decree That The God of heaven will prosper us; therefore we His servants will arise and build in the name of Jesus.

Day 28 – Praying Scripture (PS): Exodus 33:17:23

Lord, I long to see Your glory and live in Your shadow. Let me find grace and favour in Your sight and know You more. I pray that You will cause Your goodness to pass before me. I receive the blessings of goods, good things, properties, finances, health, joy, abundance, wisdom and success. Rain upon my life and pour our Your anointing over me in the name of Jesus. I AM ANOINTED and know all things.

Day 29 – Praying Scripture (PS): Psalms 23

Lord, You are my Shepherd, I shall not be in want. You make me lie down in green pastures, You lead me beside quiet waters, and You restore my soul. You guide me in paths of righteousness for Your name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and staff comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely Your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever, in the mighty name of Jesus. AMEN

Day 30 – Praying Scripture (PS): 1 Timothy 6:12; Hebrews 6:12

Father, I build up myself on my most holy faith as I pray in the Holy Spirit and commit to fight the good fight of faith that I may lay hold of the eternal blessings of God. I refuse to all doubt and sluggishness to creep into my life but will wait with faith and patience to inherit the promises in the mighty name of Jesus.

Maintaining A Godly Atmosphere In A Corrupt World.

Corruption and violence have infiltrated the good world that was created by God. This has not just started, it has always been. Right from the fall of man till now, the world has become more and more corrupt. Thus making it more difficult for a righteous man to live, work and remain righteous in a corrupt world.
Let’s face it, it’s not getting better and will not get better. The love of many have waxed cold because iniquity abounds -( Matt 24:12).

The good news is: God has and will always reserve a remnant for Himself. A remnant who despite all the happenings around would stand tall and refuse to compromise their faith. Even so then, at this present time there is a remnant according to the election of grace – Rom 11:5.

In 2 Peter 2:6-9 the bible talks about how righteous Lot was oppressed by the filthy conduct of the wicked in the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah. His righteous soul was tormented from day to day by seeing and hearing their lawless deeds.
What Lot saw and heard tormented his righteous soul. Many believers can identify with this in this day and age. How much of what we see on billboards, television, hear on news and around us torments our righteous souls?

But the day of The Lord will come as a thief in the night both the earth and all that are in it will be burned up- (2 Pet 3:10-11).
Therefore since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought we to be in holy conduct and godliness?

1. Let’s first deal with the issue of seeing and hearing that tormented Lot’s soul and still torments the righteous today.
The lawless deeds around torments the righteous soul making it almost impossible to believe God. The solution to this is constant and continuos hearing of the word of God. For faith comes by hearing and hearing the word of God ( Rom 10:17).

2. Godly counsel- Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly…( Ps 1:1). Be in the company of Godly people with Godly counsels.
How to identify Godly counsel: Does the counsel reinforce God’s word and align itself with the clear and complete teachings of the bible? Does it strengthen your faith and give you an honourable purpose in life? Does it turn you from wrongdoing, promoting righteousness and purity in your life?

3. Do not stand or sit in the path of sinners – Ps 1:1- This does not suggest eliminating ourselves completely from this world or not reaching out to unbelievers for the purpose of soul winning. It suggests a progression of influence that results from walking in the counsel of the ungodly. The walk-stand-sit progression suggests gradual integration into the company of the unjust. As believers we need to guard against this.

4. Habitually meditate on the word of God ( Ps1:2).

5. Pray without ceasing, thank God without ceasing- Do this regularly and it becomes a habit (1 Thes. 2:11).

There are many more points, but I have left the space for you ( the reader) to add on from your experience. Please click reply at the end of this blog to suggest ways to maintain a Godly atmosphere in a corrupt world. Your Godly counsel will bless others.

God bless you.

Our Response Of Faith And Overcoming Flesh (Carnality versus Spirituality).

In our journey of faith, it is important that we overcome carnality that we may be more in tune with our spiritual side.

Understand that you are more of a spiritual being than a physical being. To be able to hear God clearly we need to be spiritual. God is spirit and anyone that worships Him must worship in spirit and in truth (John 4:24).

Carnality and spirituality cannot coexist, for the carnal mind is enmity against God and cannot please God Rom 8:7.
A type of carnality versus spirituality is Ishmael and Isaac in Genesis 21:10 Ishmael having been conceived out of Abraham’s carnality and Isaac, the promised child a type of spirituality.

When the spiritual was born the bond woman and her son (Ishmael) were cast out (Gal 4:30). They could not coexist.
Another example, which also is a type is displayed in the twin pregnancy of Rebekah in Gen 25:23 Two nations were at war in her womb. Esau (who later sold his birth right) representing carnality and Jacob representing spirituality.
It is a fact that God hates carnality. ‘Jacob (spirituality) I love, Esau (carnality) I hate ‘.( Malachi 1:3, Rom 9:13).

Our response of faith (what we should know and do).

1. Know that carnality is a killer. It kills your spiritual side which is where God communes with you.
To be carnally minded is death and to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

2. We must remember that our old self was crucified with Him in order that our body of sin is rendered inactive (Rom 6:6) hence we have victory over sin and carnality.

3. On the basis of what Jesus did for us. We apply the cross. We must crucify the flesh with all its passions and desires (Gal 5:24). This is not free from pain but it is the best thing. (1 peter 4:1-2)
This is the distinguishing mark of those who belong to Jesus.
Apply the cross. Nail carnality to the cross.

4. Deny yourself, take up the cross. Jesus said ‘not my will but yours be done’. The flesh feeds on things that facilitate carnality. The cross is a place where you die. You die to what your flesh really wants to do and choose to obey God. Jesus said ‘If anyone would come after me let him deny himself take up his cross and follow me’. (Mat 16:24).
The cross is Instrument of execution and the way of deliverance.

Phil 4:13- I can do all things through Christ the one who empowers me within.

5. Be real with God and let Him know that you cannot handle the situation. You need Him. It is not by trusting yourself, yield to Jesus. You exercise your will when you choose to let him empower you from within. Every time you have a need, will the right thing.
Heb12:10- not our own holiness we become partakers of God’s holiness through Jesus, the holy one who dwells in us.

6. Allow Jesus to take control of your challenge and the situation. (1 cor 1:30).

Walking In The Steps Of Faith.

‘That he might be the father of all those who believe, though they are uncircumcised, that righteousness might be imputed to them also, and the father of circumcision to those who not only are of the circumcision, but who also walk in the steps of the faith which our father Abraham had while still uncircumcised’. (Rom 4:11b-12)

Paul looked at the great father of our faith Abraham and he proved from scriptures that he was not justified by works but by faith (Gen 15:5-6)

God had promised Abraham that he would be a father of multitude of nations. Not just Israel but everyone who had faith in Abrahams seed (The Lord Jesus).
As a result, we don’t have to be circumcised we are descendants of Abraham by faith.

Abraham was made father of 2 separate groups of people
(a) The father of the circumcised (b)The father of all those who also follow in the steps of the faith of Abraham that he had whilst he was uncircumcised.
The essential condition is faith. God reached humans in two different ways:
On the basis of the faith that caused them to be circumcised (circumcision is the expression of their faith) and the basis of faith in Jesus.
This faith does not depend on some external ordinances.

Righteousness was credited to Abraham’s faith. Does that mean that he did not make mistakes? No
Abraham’s mistakes
Gen16 Abraham took the initiative out of God’s hands when he married Sarah’s maid at her advice.
In the life of faith God takes the initiative.
Gen20- he told a lie about Sarah.

God did not approve of these two aspects of Abrahams conduct but righteousness was reckoned to him by his faith.
As long as we continue to believe, our righteousness will still be reckoned to us by our faith.
In Luke 22:31-32 Jesus prayed that Peter’s faith will not fail despite all the tests that he would go through.

Tip: In spite of tremendous test, don’t give up your faith – continue believing.

Abraham became more than just a figure he became a pattern. To be truly his descendants we have to walk in his steps of faith as the bible commands in Rom4:12

Let’s look at these steps:

The steps of the faith of Abraham (pattern of Abraham’s faith)
1. Abraham accepted Gods promise by faith alone without evidence. He believed in hope even when there was no hope.
God called Abraham a father of nations.
When God calls something a thing that’s what it is.
God’s calling comes before the physical reality. It is by faith.

2. He recognised that he was incapable of producing the promised result.

3. He focussed without waving on the promise and this was reckoned to him as righteousness.

As a result him and Sarah both received supernatural life in their bodies. The promise was fulfilled and God was glorified. (Rom. 4:20)

Grace begins where human ability ends. God moves us beyond our own ability into the realm of grace by faith. Hebrew 10:38 The just shall live by faith.

Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving is a powerful practise in maintaining the flow of the miraculous in our lives.

Exodus 17:8-16

“Then came Amalek, and fought with Israel in Rephidim. And Moses said unto Joshua, Choose us out men, and go out, fight with Amalek: to morrow I will stand on the top of the hill with the rod of God in mine hand. So Joshua did as Moses had said to him, and fought with Amalek: and Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the top of the hill. And it came to pass, when Moses held up his hand, that Israel prevailed: and when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed. But Moses’ hands were heavy; and they took a stone, and put it under him, and he sat thereon; and Aaron and Hur stayed up his hands, the one on the one side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun. And Joshua discomfited Amalek and his people with the edge of the sword. And the Lord said unto Moses, Write this for a memorial in a book, and rehearse it in the ears of Joshua: for I will utterly put out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven. And Moses built an altar, and called the name of it Jehovah–nissi: For he said, Because the Lord hath sworn that the Lord will have war with Amalek from generation to generation”.

God gave a victory and an altar was built upon what God had done. In the bible, altars were built around the visitations of God.
We need to focus on the memory of our past victories instead of our sins and other peoples sins against us.
Our altars need to be built on the memories of what God did in our past not on the memories of past failures, our sins, the sins of others, our past situations.
Altars are strong memory banks constructed out of past events in your life.

Which events are you constructing your altars on?

You must construct altars of worship unto God where you can thank, praise & worship Him.
If you have a challenge today, God has given you the ability to handle it. Your strength lies in the miracles God did yesterday.
The only way you are defeated is if you forgot the past miracles. Lack of strength results from forgetting what God did in the past.

Your next level of blessing will come as a result of the last level of blessing.
Rebuilding the altars means we are bringing back the memories of what God has done for us in the past.
When you are faced with a higher challenge, your greatest weapon is the memory of what God did yesterday. You may not have all the finances or weapons in the flesh.

The secret of receiving more victories.

Psalms 78:1-12
1. Documenting past victories- When you are faced with a challenge, record what God did in the past.
2. Rehearsal of past victories – Recount what God has done in your past and keep thanking Him for it. (Psalm 105:2-5)
You bring back into your consciousness the reality of what God has done. This is a link to the next promise.
